Measurement Guide

How to Measure
for a T-Shirt

Accurate measurements are the key to finding your perfect fit. Follow our step-by-step guide to measure your body or an existing t-shirt.

Two Ways to Find Your Size

You can either measure your body directly or measure an existing t-shirt that fits you well.

Body Measurement

Measure your actual body. This gives the most accurate fit recommendation because we can account for your preferred fit (slim, regular, or relaxed).

Best for: First-time buyers, when you don't have a reference t-shirt

Garment Measurement

Measure a t-shirt you already own and love. We'll find the closest matching size based on the garment's dimensions.

Best for: Replacing a favorite tee, matching an existing fit

Method 1

How to Measure Your Body

STEP 01

Chest Circumference

  1. Stand naturally with arms relaxed at your sides
  2. Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest
  3. The tape should pass under your arms and across your shoulder blades
  4. Keep the tape level all the way around — not too tight, not too loose
  5. Read the measurement where the tape meets the starting point
STEP 02

Body Length

  1. Stand straight with shoulders relaxed
  2. Place the tape at the base of your neck, where the collar would sit
  3. Let the tape hang straight down to where you want the t-shirt to end
  4. For a standard fit, this is usually mid-hip
  5. Note: this is approximate — garment length varies by style
STEP 03

Shoulder Width

  1. Find the bony point at the top of each shoulder (acromion)
  2. Measure straight across the back from one shoulder point to the other
  3. Keep the tape flat against your back — don't follow the curve of the neck
  4. This measurement helps especially for polo and structured t-shirts
STEP 04

Height

  1. Stand barefoot against a wall
  2. Place a flat object (book) on top of your head
  3. Mark the wall and measure from the floor to the mark
  4. Height helps us adjust the length recommendation for taller or shorter builds

Pro Tips

  • Use a flexible tape measure, not a metal one
  • Measure over a thin layer of clothing
  • Take each measurement 2–3 times for accuracy
  • Ask someone to help with back measurements
  • Breathe normally while measuring — don't hold your breath

Method 2

How to Measure a T-Shirt

Setup

  1. Choose a t-shirt that fits you well — this will be your reference
  2. Lay it flat on a smooth, hard surface (table, floor)
  3. Smooth out any wrinkles without stretching the fabric
  4. Button or zip it up if applicable
01

Chest Width

Measure straight across from armpit seam to armpit seam. This gives you the half chest measurement. Our tool uses this to match against full garment chest sizes.

02

Length

Measure from the highest point of the shoulder seam (where it meets the collar) straight down to the bottom hem. Keep the tape straight — don't follow curves.

💡 Good to Know

Garment measurements may differ slightly from the size chart due to fabric stretch, shrinkage from washing, and manufacturing tolerances (typically ±0.5 inches).
